A web press is a printing press that uses a continuous roll of paper. This method of printing is typically used to produce magazine and newspaper publications. Web press printing is designed for high-volume, high-speed printing jobs.

Web presses are used for high-volume runs of printed material. Usually, magazines or newspapers are printed on web presses. Books, manuals, and calendars are also printed on web presses if they have large enough quantities to make the runs cost-effective. 

Unlike a sheet-fed press, which has separate sheets of paper entering the press one after another, a web press is fed from a continuous spool of paper that flows through the press.

Once printed on, pages are separated and cut to size then put together into the finished product like mass-market books, magazines, newspapers, catalogs, and brochures. Someone looking for runs of printed material with over 10,000 or 20,000 impressions typically chooses the web press option.

Different from sheet-fed printing requiring off-line finishing machines, such as folding machine, cutting machine, to go on to the next process, the web press often with in-line finishing capabilities, such as perforating, cutting, and folding, allows for the production of finished products in a single pass, so the product is complete when it comes off the press.
